POD XT Bundle - U2 Tones including No Line on the Horizon Tones
This bundle contains my latest tones as of posted date, right after I just programmed some new ones for No Line on the Horizon.
Performance Notes:
Sexy Boots. I have two patches for this one. The STOMP on the first patch has the octave effect for the main riff, I turn it off for some of the parts of the song. The second patch has a synth MOD sound over the top of the guitar to give it a high pitched weird tone to emulate the keyboards on the record. I also use it to play the solo (after first chorus).
No Line on the Horizon. Live we play the B-Side to Sexy Boots mix that has the reverse guitar at the begining. I setup two patches for this song, one with a reverse delay to use for the intro for the song. We play to a click live so its pretty easy to chunk away and get that backward guitar sound, then I switch to the second patch mid strum and now we are playing forward and the rest of the band can start! The MOD effect is used on the chorus to add extra jingle.
Magnificent. This one is fairly straightforward, I thought about having a heavier tone for the F# chord at the beginning, but decided to just use the Lumpy Phase MOD instead. This gives the tone that underwater sound on the intro riff and when occurs just before the solo.
Breath. This one I intentionally made extra heavy with the Soldano amp model (Solo?). This has some great riffs, very very simple two note ditties, but I really like playing this song.
Moment of Surrender. So U2 played this in one take. We have a recording of our first take, but it could do with some more…! I use the Octo effect with the Line 6 pedal along with lots of delays and reverb on this tone, to create a big atmospheric wash. Use the footpedal for volume swells.
I’ll Go Crazy. This one is a pretty standard tone, but I put a big PI Fuzz on the STOMP for bit after the solo. I use the leslie cab effect just cause I like how it sounds loud on stage, but its probably not authentic to the real song.
Stand up Comedy. I started with the same tone I use for I will follow, lenghened the delay for the chorus and then turned off all the effects for a great snappy funk tone. This one is a lot of fun to play for me.
